A hands-on workshop offering a fascinating window into William Shakespeare’s world in Warwickshire from cradle to grave.

Through a mix of role-play and hands-on activities, children will become history detectives as they piece together evidence to discover what life was like for William Shakespeare as a schoolboy, actor and playwright and why he is as relevant today as he was 400 years ago.
Hands-on activities include:
- Discovering more about Shakespeare's life as a schoolboy, actor and playwright
- Experiencing through role-play what petty school was like and learning to write with a quill
- Exploring an historic Tudor farmhouse and seeing some of the documents and artefacts from our Collections
- Taking part in an interactive story-telling session about mischief and magic
- Encountering the animals that live on the farm today and finding out why animals were so important in William's day
- Trying your hand at laying the "board" (table) for a Tudor dinner using a mix of replica artefacts
- Engaging with hands-on experiential learning in a range of interactive activities
- Creating fantastic experiences and memories
Using clues from primary sources, including original documents and artefacts from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s Collections and the Shakespeare family houses, this workshop is designed to link to the Key Stage 1 curriculum, specifically learning about a significant historical individual who has contributed to national and international achievements.

Full-day, usually 10.00 am to 2.30 pm but adjustments can be made with notice
Cost of workshop:
£11.50 per child
All accompanying adults are free of charge. Ratio: 1:10
Minimum charge applies based on 25 children (except for SEN groups)
