A House for All Time Campaign - Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs for our fundraising campaign A House for All Time - Hall's Croft
Why is this work so urgent?
Structural issues, timber decay, and environmental pressures mean intervention cannot be postponed. Delay increases risk, complexity, and cost.
Can international supporters donate?
Yes - international donations are welcome, and US donors can give tax-effectively via Shakespeare’s Birthplace America (SBA).
Will donors be recognised?
Yes. All donors will receive appropriate recognition unless they choose to remain anonymous.
Why doesn’t the driver’s insurance cover the costs?
Insurance will cover the immediate costs of securing the building and repairing the direct damage caused. It does not cover the wider, urgent conservation work already needed on the front elevation - which this campaign funds.
Why isn’t SBT funding this from its operating budget?
Like all heritage charities, SBT relies on philanthropy to conserve its historic buildings. Income from visitors covers a portion of our work, but not the major conservation costs required to protect centuries-old structures.
