About Proud Shakespeare

We believe that Shakespeare and all of our services are for everyone.

Proud Shakespeare is a trust-wide initiative that focuses on reinterpreting our collections and services as we support, celebrate and reflect on the continued impact of LGBTQ+ communities, including our audiences, staff and volunteers.

We are committed to:

  • Identify what the community needs from us
  • Understand where gaps are and develop programmes to address those gaps
  • Showcase our diverse and inclusive offer

We are a long-time supporter of the OUTing the Past festival and are continuously working to improve our LGBTQ+ source guide, both in terms of expanding our collection of resources available to the public, but also in terms of language used.

Our program is an evolving ethos that is dedicated to the improvement of LGBTQ+ education, inclusion and understanding.

We are working with individuals and communities to strengthen our relevance. This process is inclusive and we welcome suggestions from all people in Stratford, south Warwickshire and the wider ‘Shakespeare community of interest’.
