SBT Council

SBT's Consultative Council

The Charities (Shakespeare Birthplace Trust) Order 2017 provides for the SBT to establish and maintain a consultative Council which will contribute to the organisation’s long-term vision.

The Council will enable the SBT to formalise relationships with individuals who are best able to contribute to the furtherance of the objects of the Trust.  Post 2017 governance review the Council also provides an opportunity for former Trustees, former Honorary Fellows and others to contribute to the life and aspirations of the Trust.   It will also contribute to succession planning and growing new Trustees/Directors of SBT Trading Ltd from a diverse cross-section of society.

The Council will complement, support and challenge the Board, and provide a forum for, and act as sounding board for, discussion of high-level strategy.  Council members with relevant skills/expertise/experience may be asked to join SBT committees/working groups as co-opted members or to act as SBT ambassadors/spokespeople on specific matters.
