Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter

Everything we do is underpinned by a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We firmly believe that Shakespeare is for everyone and encourage EDI among our workforce, volunteers, Trustee Board and visitors.

We are committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) amongst our workforce and volunteers and within our Trustee Board, as well as preventing unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be representative of all sections of society and for each employee and volunteer to feel respected and able to give their best. Our charter covers all visitors, partners, sub-contractors, Trustees, employees, volunteers, temporary workers, contractors, prospective employees and anyone else who we interact with.

  • We firmly believe that Shakespeare is for everyone
  • We recognise that all people have differing needs
  • We will treat people with respect
  • We will provide accessible information on our work and sites
  • We will aim to deliver experiences that are accessible and culturally appropriate to those using them
  • We will work with our employees, volunteers and Board to ensure that EDI is embedded in the workplace
  • We will ensure that all staff and volunteers are supported through training, development and engagement in relation to EDI
  • We will ensure that EDI is embedded into our organisation’s culture
  • We have developed an EDI policy that reflects this commitment and are developing an EDI action plan to support this
  • EDI is driven from the Board and forms part of our future strategic planning.
