Work Experience

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust does offer work experience placements. These placements usually run for one week but in some cases can be extended for two weeks. Students are typically placed within our visitor-facing teams at Shakespeare's Birthplace or Anne Hathaway's Cottage, although we occasionally accommodate Learning and Farming teams. 

Students will have the chance to work alongside our teams delivering our exceptional visitor experience, as well as experiencing the work that goes on behind the scenes allowing us to continue to share Shakespeare with the world.

All students will be given an full introduction to the Trust on your first day. This will be delivered by our onsite teams, so you can meet the colleagues you’ll be working with for the duration of your placement. You’ll be given support and guidance throughout your placement and there will be a lot of opportunities to ask questions, learn and develop.

We do receive a high number of applications every year, and our placement are limited. This does mean that we will not be able to offer placements to everyone, and if you request a week that is already fully booked, we may not be able to offer you an alternative week. As part of our selection process, we may arrange an informal telephone interview before a placement is confirmed.

We will ask you to fill out and return some paperwork for your placement including a risk assessment. Failure to return these forms promptly may result in your place being cancelled.
