Commissions

We are proud to have commissioned new settings of Shakespeare as part of Singing Shakespeare from two of Britain’s leading contemporary choral composers, Gary Carpenter and Toby Young.

Gary Carpenter’s series of four books of Shakespeare songs for SATB, SSA and TTBB are available to purchase from Cadenza Music:

The Food of Love Book 1 (for SATB Choir & Piano)
The Food of Love Book 2 (for SSA Choir & Piano)
The Food of Love Book 3 (for TTBB Choir & Piano)
The Food of Love Book 4 (for SATB Choir & Piano)

Toby Young has also been commissioned to set three extracts to music for children's voices. We’re thrilled that he has given permission for us to share these works without charge, for use in schools, in Brownie or Cubs groups, in community singing groups or at home!

We’ve also created a list of repertoire for choirs.

This list is by no means exhaustive and we welcome submissions from composers who would like their work to be included. Please email singing@shakespeare.org.uk with details of new settings to add to the list, including:
