A free online talk with people engaged in Shakespeare-related research - In conversation with Carol Rutter.
Twenty-seven years ago, Carol Rutter published some ground-breaking conversations with five of the finest actors of their generation: Sinead Cusack, Paola Dionisotti, Juliet Stevenson, Fiona Shaw, and Harriet Walter. They discussed the roles of Kate, Isabella, Lady Macbeth, Helena, Imogen, and Rosalind.
The result was Clamorous Voices: Shakespeare's Women Today, now regarded as one of the finest examples of Shakespeare performance criticism.
But are the voices still 'clamouring', and if so, what are they 'clamouring' about?
How do we talk about performing Shakespeare's women?
What are Shakespeare's women telling us, twenty-seven years on?
Join us in conversation with Professor Carol Rutter on this fascinating subject.
Led by Professor Carol Rutter, Emerita Professor of Shakespeare and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick.
