Shakespeare XR
Step inside Shakespeare's New Place with our visitor experience that combines augmented reality and virtual reality
Shakespeare XR gives today's visitors to Shakespeare's New Place their first chance to see 'virtually' inside the grand house where he lived with his family for the final 19 years of his life.
The house was demolished 260 years ago, but thanks to a combination of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) watch as the house re-emerges against a live backdrop of the site as it is today, before being invited inside to have a 180-degree look around the Courtyard, Hall, and Long Gallery.
Shakespeare XR is part of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s creative programme that is being developed with support from Arts Council England. It has been designed and developed by artificial intelligence and immersive technology specialists AiSolve in partnership with Coventry University's Centre for Postdigital Cultures at Coventry University.
