Residents Go Free
To the Shakespeare Family Homes
Residents can explore the life, works and times of William Shakespeare for free across the Shakespeare family homes.
Our ‘Residents Go Free’ ticket offer is available to individuals who are permanent residents within the CV37 postcode area and provides free access to Shakespeare's Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Shakespeare's New Place Gardens. And the good news doesn't stop there - any guests you bring along pay just half price, so it's a great excuse to share Stratford's story with friends and family.
This offer is non-transferable and is for the personal use of CV37 residents only. Residents may not book or obtain free tickets on behalf of non-residents. However, guests are warmly welcome to visit alongside you - simply bring them with you and they'll enjoy half price admission (adult and child prices apply, to a total maximum of four guest tickets per booking).
How to Access Your Residents Go Free Tickets
'Residents Go Free' tickets, along with half price guest tickets, must be pre-booked online or obtained on arrival at any of the Shakespeare family homes. The offer is valid for specified admissions times only and our standard cancellations and refunds terms apply.
Please note: you only need to select a time slot for your visit to Shakespeare's Birthplace. You can visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s New Place at any time with your ticket.
Proof of Residency Requirements
On arrival, residents must present current proof of residency showing their name and a CV37 postcode address. Proof of residency must match the name of the visitor (adults aged 18+). For families visiting with up to 4 children under 18, proof of residence from the parent/guardian is sufficient for the whole family group. Any guests accompanying you who reside outside the CV37 postcode area will receive half price admission — just make sure you're there to visit with them.
Acceptable forms of identification include:
- A utility bill (gas, electricity, water, or landline telephone) dated within the last three months (digital or hard copy accepted)
- A valid UK Driving Licence showing a CV37 address
- A Stratford-upon-Avon Council Tax bill or statement dated within the current financial year
- An official tenancy agreement or mortgage statement dated within the last three months
Verification and Right of Refusal
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust reserves the right to verify residency documentation and may request additional proof if documentation appears invalid or inconsistent. The Trust reserves the right to refuse entry or future access to anyone unable to provide valid proof of residency. The Trust reserves the right to withdraw the benefit - including half price guest tickets - from anyone found to be misusing the scheme or providing false information. Documentation may be photographed or recorded for verification purposes in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
