To the Shakespeare Family Homes

Residents can explore the life, works and times of William Shakespeare for free across the Shakespeare family homes.

Our ‘Residents Go Free’ ticket offer is available to individuals who are permanent residents within the CV37 postcode area and provides free access to Shakespeare's Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Shakespeare's New Place Gardens.

This offer is non-transferable and is for the personal use of CV37 residents only. Residents may not book or obtain tickets on behalf of non-residents.

How to Access Your Residents Go Free Tickets

'Residents Go Free' tickets must be pre-booked online or obtained on arrival at any of the Shakespeare family homes. The offer is valid for specified admissions times only and our standard cancellations and refunds terms apply.

Please note: you only need to select a time slot for your visit to Shakespeare's Birthplace. You can visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s New Place at any time with your ticket.

Proof of Residency Requirements 

On arrival, residents must present current proof of residency showing their name and a CV37 postcode address. Proof of residency must match the name of the visitor (adults aged 18+). For families visiting with up to 4 children under 18, proof of residence from the parent/guardian is sufficient for the whole family group. Acceptable forms of identification include: 

  • A utility bill (gas, electricity, water, or landline telephone) dated within the last three months (digital or hard  copy accepted) 
  • A valid UK Driving Licence showing a CV37 address 
  • A Stratford-upon-Avon Council Tax bill or statement dated within the current financial year
  • An official tenancy agreement or mortgage statement dated within the last three months 

Verification and Right of Refusal 

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust reserves the right to verify residency documentation and may request additional proof if documentation appears invalid or inconsistent. The Trust reserves the right to refuse entry or future access to anyone unable to provide valid proof of residency. The Trust reserves the right to withdraw the benefit from anyone found to be misusing the scheme or providing false information. Documentation may be photographed or recorded for verification purposes in accordance with our Privacy Policy. 

Exclusions and Limitations 

  • Temporary residents (including those in short-term holiday lets, Airbnb properties, or visiting for less than three months) are not eligible for this offer. 
  • Selected special events and other premium or capacity-controlled activities are excluded from this offer. Please check with us before booking or if in doubt. 
  • At the management’s discretion, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust reserves the right to refuse or limit availability of ‘Residents Go Free’ tickets due to capacity issues, or any unforeseen circumstances. 
  • With the exception of the CV37 Guest Ticket, the 'Residents Go Free' offer may not be combined with any other discount, offer, special deal or concession (eg. family or group rates). It cannot be applied retrospectively after a visit and can be withdrawn at any time.
