Postcards from Hall’s Croft
Over the coming years, we hope to build an online archive of postcards from Hall’s Croft, to create a body of evidence of how the site has featured in people’s lives and how it has been presented.
In the SBT archive, there are many examples of postcards portraying Hall’s Croft going back far earlier than its opening to the public in 1951:
Most of these are not yet digitised but are freely available onsite at the SBT Reading Room.
While working on the Susanna Hall and Hall’s Croft project, the project’s Principal Investigator Dr Ailsa Grant Ferguson began seeking out postcards, looking particularly for those that had been written and sent, to give us an idea of how past visitors experienced Hall’s Croft. We hope to compile a virtual archive of these postcards and more.
