Archiving the AHRC Susanna Hall and Hall’s Croft project
Information about plans to archive content from this project
This project is the result of a joyous collaboration and of many people’s commitment and creativity and we would like to record that by creating an ongoing archive of how, what and why we worked. The project was conceived and led by Dr Ailsa Grant Ferguson (University of Brighton, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, part of UKRI), working closely with Rosalyn Sklar as Research Officer, and the SBT Team, in particular, vital contributions from and collaborations with Sian Cooper (Gardens Manager), Paul Taylor (Head of Museum & Curatorial Services), Jane Hartnell (Head of Digital Media), Nick Walton (Shakespeare Courses Development Manager) and Jen Waghorn (Lecturer in Shakespeare Studies), Amy Hurst (Collections Manager) and Emily White (Curator), and the creative practice and input of Iain Chambers (composer) and Lucy Phelps (actor and writer), as well as digital agency Arcade and video agency Spark, together brought the unique and ambitious originally conceived outputs to life with incredible vibrancy.
As the project progressed, it was clear to me that the true collaboration and consultation that it involved, as well as the diversity of research, creative and heritage practices deployed, should be preserved and documented in a mini-archive. That is now being undertaken and this space will grow over the coming years, showing behind the scenes of a unique and powerful project.
— Dr Ailsa Grant Ferguson (Lead)
Ailsa will compile diverse materials over the next few years, in an ongoing and responsive approach, such as notes from meetings, correspondence, artwork and design, early sketches and notes for outputs; records of events, such as our Artists’ Lab and Symposium. Written materials, images, video and sound files will be collected.
To start with this is the collation stage; we hope it will be possible to catalogue the items for the broader SBT archive in the fullness of time but please check back here to see updates on the collation.
