New Place Project Update, Jan 2016

While the rest of us enjoyed some mince pies and mulled wine, the conservation building team were cracking on with their hard work on electrical installation, plastering and painting to Nash’s House.

Let us start by saying a belated Happy New Year from the New Place Project Team!  It was quiet in the Project Office during the Christmas and New Year period, but that didn’t stop work on site, so we thought we’d just give you a quick update on everything that has been going on.  While the rest of us enjoyed some mince pies and mulled wine, the conservation building team were cracking on with all their hard work on electrical installation, plastering and painting to Nash’s House.

The image is of a room in a timber-framed house, with a vertical wooden beam in the foreground, part of a mid-room truss. There is a stone fireplace in the background,, and the windows are leaded. Building work is taking place.

Conservation works to the house is nearly complete and we are looking at a finishing date of late February.  Once the house is finished the installation team will then be moving in and starting work putting together the New Place exhibition in early March.

Meanwhile, on the rest of the site, 6000 new plants were delivered for the Knot Garden, and volunteers and staff are busy planting them in.  We also had an enthusiastic group of volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover join us in the Great Garden to work on the conservation of The Wild Bank.

We are fortunate to have volunteers that want to spend some of their free time helping us create this unique site. We really are very grateful.

Please keep checking back for more information and updates on the site. Hopefully we will have more good news and exciting photos to show you in 2016.
