Letters from Our Volunteers: Jillian Working with the Education Team

Jillian shows us how she has been able to apply her artistic skills in her volunteer experience.

Although I have not volunteered with the Education team for long, I am finding it a really enjoyable experience. Everyone I have met in the team has been so welcoming, supportive, and enthusiastic about the activities. So far I have made miniature gardens, pop up puppets, and learnt how to write with a quill.

Not only am I improving my artistic skills, but I have found that I am learning something new every day, whether it be an interesting fact about Shakespeare or aspects of Tudor life. It is also nice to meet the parents of the children and get feedback on their visit to New Place, the majority of which is positive.

I feel that my contribution is appreciated by the team, which makes such a difference when volunteering. Volunteering with the Education team is a rewarding and positive experience for me.
