Women Making Shakespeare Today

November's Research Conversation

For the nineth edition of our 2024 series of Research Conversations exploring The Women Who Made Shakespeare, we welcome Dr. Varsha Panjwani who will talk to us about the continuous contribution by women to the success of Shakespeare.

While scholars looking into the past have pieced together a convincing picture of women’s industry and labour, they have also revealed huge gaps in the records about women’s expertise.

This conversation will focus on how we can learn from research projects such as ‘The Women Who Made Shakespeare’ to keep better records today.

Are there particular areas that we are ignoring? How can we participate in recording and disseminating these important histories? What might be the legacies and outcomes of such work?

Led by Dr. Varsha Panjwani, host and creator of the award-winning ‘Women & Shakespeare’ podcast and author of ‘Podcasts and Feminist Shakespeare Pedagogy’ (Cambridge University Press, 2022).

About our Research Conversations
Every month we host a live online talk which provides you with the opportunity to listen to people who are engaged in Shakespeare-related research. The talk begins with a thirty-minute presentation, followed by an open discussion.

All of our Research Conversations are completely free to attend, though we do encourage donations in order to support our work and keep Shakespeare's story alive. So if you are in the position to support us with a donation, no matter large or small, we would be incredibly grateful.

Listen back: If you were unable to attend our previous virtual Research Conversations, want a recap, or completely new to it and want to see what it's all about, you can catch up on our audio recordings .

This event is part of our multi-year programme, celebrating The Women Who Made Shakespeare
