Welcombe Hills Walk

Shakespeare and Wildlife

Walk in the footsteps of Shakespeare on this guided walk over the Welcombe Hills.

Join us for a guided walk across the Welcombe Hills led by guides from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

As part of our Sustainable Shakespeare programme, the walk offers an opportunity to explore Shakespeare's connection to this landscape, and the role it played as a likely source of inspiration for his works. Learn about the site's rich history, and the current conservation efforts that seek to protect and preserve the varied wildlife and habitats of this special place.

Please note, this is an on-site event. The walk begins at Rowley Fields (CV37 6XZ) and lasts around 2 hours, with several stops along the route.

Tickets cost £10 and booking online is essential.

Dates of guided walks

This activity takes place up and down steep hills and over unsurfaced paths and will require a reasonable level of fitness to complete. We ask you to take this into consideration before booking.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust guide will be able to administer basic first aid but we ask that you consider, particularly those with any pre-existing medical conditions, that the walk is in a rural area and it may take some time for emergency services to reach us.

Take a look at our FAQs to help you find the answer to a question you may have.
