Start your own traditions this year with fun festive talks, performances and workshops, suitable for elves of all ages.

Activities take place from 12 pm-4 pm, unless otherwise stated, and are included in general admission. So if you already have a valid pass you can come along for free!

Meet Father Christmas

HALL’S CROFT, 15-16 DECEMBER, 11 am
Bring your little elves to Susanna’s kitchen and they’ll each receive a special present brought just for them by Father Christmas. Enjoy free biscuit-decorating in the Hall’s Croft cafe with every ticket.

Father Christmas will be at Hall's Croft on 15 December and 16 December between 11 am and 3.30 pm in fifteen minute time slots.

Meet the Experts

Enjoy this opportunity to meet our expert collections team, showing rarely seen items from our archives.

Twelfth Night celebrations
SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHPLACE, 5-6 JANUARY, 12 pm - 4 pm 
Hear all about the Tudor celebrations for Twelfth Night.

Jasmin Earnshaw and Guest
HALLS CROFT, 1, 14 and 20 DECEMBER, 12 pm - 4 pm
Exclusive participation in music and sonnet reading. Our special guest actor will accompany you in reading your chosen sonnet with music. Choose a mask to wear and have a go in some light dancing.


Tours

Music & Tudor Mince Pies
SHAKESPEARE’S BIRTHPLACE, 15-16 DECEMBER, 10 am - 4 pm
Ask about the Tudor instruments and how they evolved into the ones we know today, and round off your visit with an opportunity to sample a Tudor mince pie.

Wassail Days
SHAKESPEARE’S BIRTHPLACE, 19-30 DECEMBER, 12 pm - 4 pm
A guided tour showing a traditional Tudor Christmas that Shakespeare would have enjoyed as a boy. Includes a free taste of our legendary wassail. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Food, Feasting and Festivities
HALLS CROFT, 3, 13, 20, 27 DECEMBER, 2 pm
A short tour of the parlour and kitchen discussing foods and feasting, of the Christmas period, in a Jacobean household. Examples of food on display and recipe cards to take away.


Workshops

Deck the House 
SHAKESPEARE CENTRE, 10 NOVEMBER, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm
Join us to help make decorations that will go into the beautiful Anne Hathaway's Cottage, using food relevant to the cottage's history from the 16th to 20th century. It's the perfect way to start getting into the Christmas spirit.

Tudor Spice
HALLS CROFT, 8 DECEMBER, 12 pm - 4p m
Our resident cook talks about Christmas spices and how they were used in traditional Jacobean recipes, with samples for you to try for yourself.

Advent Artwork at New Place
SHAKESPEARE’S NEW PLACE, 6 DECEMBER - 6 JANUARY
Create a Christmas card to send to one of Shakespeare's family.
