Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations

Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday in his hometown of Stratford

Join us in Stratford-upon-Avon for a day of live performances, crafts and cake!

Henley Street

9.30 - 10.30am: Country Dance Performances

Enjoy a country dance performance by local school children outside Shakespeare's Birthplace on Henley Street. Then join in the Birthday Parade through the streets of Stratford. 

11.30am - 16.30pm: Community Dance Performances

Every half an hour (approx) join one of our community dance troupes for a series of performances including traditional and contemporary styles. 

Stratford-upon-Avon

10.15am - 12.00pm: Birthday Parade

Follow the colourful parade through Shakespeare’s hometown - look out for flags from all over the world and even an appearance from the man himself!

Hall's Croft

12.00 - 4.00pm: Knights & Nymphs Children’s Garden Party

The annual Knights and Nymphs children's garden party is a must for those ready to celebrate Shakespeare’s Birthday in style. Dress up as a Knight or a Nymph, have your face painted, enjoy garden games, or tuck into the delicious Tudor-inspired BBQ, there’s plenty of fun for all the family. Free entry to the gardens.

Shakespeare’s Family Homes

9.00am - 5.00pm: Cake for all

Enjoy a free slice of Shakespeare's birthday cake at one of his five family homes (while stocks last!). 


Free entry to Shakespeare’s Family Homes on Saturday 27 April & Sunday 28 April for all CV37 residents (with proof of address).
