Research Conversations: Becoming Othello

with Debra Ann Byrd

A Black Girl's Journey

Two years ago, Debra Ann Byrd (Artistic Director of the Harlem Shakespeare Festival) came to research Othello in the collections at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. She has turned her work with us into a one-women show, and is coming to tell us more about her experiences as an actor of colour in the States working with Shakespeare, and how that relates to her own astonishing life story and politically-motivated art.

Free admission, no booking required, all welcome!

Presented by a range of experts on a range of topics, the SBT's Research Conversations are a great way of finding out more about the work that happens with and around our internationally significant Collections - papers, books, objects - and joining in the discussion yourself.

Always the second Wednesday of the month. Free admission - no ticket required.
