About Proud Shakespeare

Proud Shakespeare is an integral aspect of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, not only for our audiences, but for our staff and volunteers as well.

The program is an evolving ethos that is dedicated to the improvement of LQBTQ+ education, inclusion and understanding. We are a long time supporter of the OUTing the Past festival, and are continuously working to improve our LGBTQ+ source guide, both in terms of expanding our collection of resources available to the public, but also in terms of language used.
