Over Throne

at The Shakespeare Centre

Hosted by our Senior Lecturer in Shakespeare Studies, Dr Anjna Chouhan.

The chopping and changing of rulers is nothing new. So many of Shakespeare's rulers have ended up losing their throne, their crown, or even their lives!

Join us for an evening of performance and discussion, as we take a look at some of the disgraced rulers that were overthrown in Shakespeare’s plays. During this intimate evening you will learn how Shakespeare's most famous ousted monarchs; Richard III, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Duncan, and Hamlet's Father, lost their crown, and others their heads as well!

There will also be an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the costumes we have borrowed from past Royal Shakespeare Company performances.
