Makaton Singalong Saturdays

Come and join in with our Makaton singalongs

Come along with your family on the first Saturday of every month at 2pm (April - Sept) and join in with our Makaton sing-a-long.

The session takes place at 2pm - 2.30pm and is based around the nursery rhymes on display.  Nursery rhymes include Three Blind Mice, Oranges and Lemons, Hark Hark the Dogs do Bark and Little Bo Peep.  The session is hands on as visitors are actively encouraged to sing along and feel materials that link to the songs.  For example we have sheep skin for Little Bo Peep and mini cuddly toy dogs for Hark Hark.

After the songs have finished you can enjoy our specially created Makaton trail around the site of Shakespeare's New Place where you can get hands on with sculptures and other interactive parts of the site.

The sessions aren’t just for people who use Makaton every day, as small children will also benefit and enjoy them.

Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order.  Today over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton symbols and signs.

This activity is included in normal admissions - so if you already have a valid ticket or a Community Card you can come along monthly for free!
