Getting to Know Will

A fascinating window into Shakespeare's world in Stratford-upon-Avon

During this hands-on workshop your class will learn about William Shakespeare from cradle to grave.  The session is designed to capture imaginations as pupils discover what life was like for William as a schoolboy, actor and playwright.  Pupils will also learn why he is as relevant today as he was 400 years ago.

Your pupils will:

  • explore primary sources to find out about Shakespeare's life and legacy
  • enjoy hands-on activities including writing with a quill, creating parchment tags and making wax seals
  • investigate plague remedies with the Apothecary and make herbs bags to ward off the plague
  • visit the strong room to see original paintings, documents and artefacts
  • walk in Shakespeare's footsteps touring his childhood home and visiting Shakespeare's New Place, the site of his final home in Stratford-upon-Avon.
