Delia Garratt

Director of Cultural Engagement (Maternity Leave)

Dr Delia Garratt leads aspects of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s cultural programme onsite in Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as nationally and internationally, including management of the Trust’s Designated collections and the development and delivery of outstanding education and research programmes.  Delia’s team contributes to the visit experience supporting the presentation of the Trust’s five Shakespeare houses.  Delia is passionate about the potential of collections for audience engagement and much of her work has been to open up collections to wider audiences; to find innovative ways of building connections between people and objects.  Previous roles include Museums and Communities Manager at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Collections Development Officer (later Head of Collections) at the National Waterways Museums.  She received her doctorate from the University of Leicester in 2002.
