The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust carried off two of the top awards at the inaugural Pride of Stratford Awards held on 17 February. Dr Diana Owen, Director of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, scooped the Stratford's Pride Award for her outstanding contribution to life in Stratford-upon Avon. The staff and volunteers at Mary Arden's Farm won the Team of the Year trophy at the same ceremony. The charity was also shortlisted in two other categories - Tourist Attraction of the Year and Educator of the Year.
The best of local business and selfless community heroes were celebrated at the Touch FM Pride of Stratford Awards 2012 in partnership with DCS at the Holiday Inn in Stratford. The prestigious 'Swan' awards recognise individuals and businesses that have made a difference to Stratford Upon Avon and District.
Stratford’s Pride Award, sponsored by Jaguar Landrover, recognises Diana's outstanding commitment to improving life for residents and visitors, and acting as ambassador to the town. The judges were impressed by Diana's tireless work to champion the interests of Shakespeare’s Stratford locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
The Team of the Year Award, sponsored by Premier Inn recognised the integration of staff and volunteers at Mary Arden's Farm who have worked so well together to deliver an amazing experience to visitors that reflects life when Shakespeare was a boy.
