Flock of rare breed sheep

Cotswold sheep at Mary Arden's Farm

Our flock of sheep is led by lovable rogue Ben, the Portland ram and the curly haired Cotswold ewes.

Legend has it that the Portlands first swam ashore to England during the shipwrecks of the Spanish Armada. Their lambs are born a deep fox red colour and change to white in the first few months of their life.  The Cotswold sheep have lustrous fleeces and were a very important wool breed in the Medieval and Tudor period.
