Shakespeare's Family Homes
We care for all five of the surviving houses associated with Shakespeare and his family: his Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Nash’s House, Hall’s Croft and Mary Arden’s Farm as well as the site and gardens of New Place, Shakespeare’s final home. When you make a donation you will be helping us keep these houses open and in good condition so that we can continue to welcome visitors for hundreds of years to come.
Unrivalled collections, unparalleled education
We care for the world’s largest collection of Shakespeare-related materials available to the public – including the only surviving letter written to Shakespeare, three First Folios and many other treasures, including the archive of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
20,000 students of all ages and nationalities attend our courses, lectures and seminars each year. They tell us that nothing can compare to studying in the heart of the town where Shakespeare was born. Thousands of people also use our reading room which is one of the few specialist Shakespeare libraries that is open for everyone to use.
Please support our work
You can support the Trust's work and help sustain Shakespeare's legacy by making a donation to the Trust. All donations are warmly welcomed and go towards furthering our work. If you are a UK income-tax payer you can give us further valuable support by making a tax-deductible donation through Gift Aid.
Your support is very much appreciated.
Make a Gift in your Will
When you make a gift in your Will to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust you can help conserve the five houses in Stratford-upon-Avon which are associated with William Shakespeare and his family, keeping them open for generations to come. You will be helping us engage with people from around the world through our international education and outreach work, inspiring more people through Shakespeare's genius. You can help us care for and expand our world class collections, enabling more people to access them. Your gift will help sustain Shakespeare's legacy for generations to come.
We are very grateful for bequests of any size and are happy to answer any questions you might have . Please contact the Development Team if there is anything at all you would like to ask us about leaving us a gift in your Will.
Please download our short guide to leaving a gift in your Will to us. This contains the suggested form of words for making different types of bequest and will be of use to your solicitor when making or changing your Will.

Your support will help to sustain Shakespeare's legacy for generations to come.
We care for five Tudor houses in Stratford-upon-Avon that are associated with William Shakespeare and his family, including the house where he was born and the site of the house in which he died. We also hold and care for world class collections of Shakespeare related materials.
Our programmes, education and outreach work continue to inspire visitors, students and scholars of all nationalities. We do all this without any direct government funding and rely entirely on income generated through our supporters: our visitors, donors, volunteers and Friends.
