As a volunteer you can work flexible hours as a highly valued and integral member of our team. You will also be invited to a range of special volunteer events such as parties, workshops, drop-in sessions and awards events.

Volunteers play a crucial role at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, supporting our staff and enhancing the experience of our visitors. 

Meet some of our volunteers:

Norma, Collections Volunteer 

Norma has been volunteering with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust since 1985, after being widowed. As well as gaining a valuable support network, it also led to her studying an MA in Local and Regional History at University of Warwick.

Archie, Visitor Engagement Volunteer at New Place 

At 17 years old, Archie is one of our youngest volunteers. He joins us for 2-3 hours a week at Shakespeare's New Place from King Edward VI Grammar School, Stratford-upon-Avon where he is studying A-Level maths, economics, and geography.

John, Volunteer at Shakespeare’s Birthplace

John has been a volunteer guide with us for eight years, having taken early retirement from the water industry. "I wanted to do something totally different and guiding people around Shakespeare's Birthplace is just that!"
