Backyard Shakespeare 2
Backyard Shakespeare is an incorporated non-profit youth theatre camp in Bolton, Connecticut, that began in 2003 as a summer project to acquaint young people with Shakespeare’s language and themes, and to introduce them to theatre and drama. The Backyard Shakespeare season is 3 and 1/2 weeks long, and covers all aspects of poetry and language, acting, voice, and rehearsals culminating in late August performances. In our 9th season now, the program has grown to include over 40 student actors ages 11 through 18, college internships in directing, and a directorship. Shakespeare plays are produced and memorized in their entirety, with performances done before live outdoor audiences.
