Shakespeare on the Road in the Collections

An introduction to looking after an archival collection, created as part of Shakespeare on the Road

From 4 July - 25 August 2014 the Shakespeare on the Road team embarked upon an epic road trip around America and Canada in a unique project to discover and document the untold story of the Bard in the USA in the 450th anniversary of his birth.

The project aimed to capture, for the first time, a comprehensive picture of Shakespeare’s place in contemporary American culture through the voices of artists and audiences across the continent. You can find out more about this project over on the Shakespeare on the Road website.

As part of this project, the team collected archival material from their trip to bring back to Stratford to be deposited in the SBT archive. In return, these short videos were created as guides to share with the project partners to offer guidance and advice on how to look after their own archival collections.
