Residential Courses

Bespoke courses for international high schools, university students and special interest groups

“Fantastic, immersive, scholarly experience.” Florida International University, USA

There’s no better place to study Shakespeare’s life, works and legacy than in one of the historic houses in Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Spend a couple of days or several weeks exploring ‘all things Shakespeare’ with our experts in the beautiful settings of Hall’s Croft (home to Susanna Shakespeare) and Harvard House (built in 1596).

The work you do – the homes, the workshops, and lectures – is so vital and an important aspect of my students’ education.

— Principia College, USA

Your students will deepen their understanding of Shakespeare’s times by visiting the historic sites and houses connected to his life.

Students will also broaden their knowledge and appreciation of Shakespeare’s works through theatre visits and lively discussions on a range of topics including:

  • Shakespeare’s Life, Works, and Legacy
  • Brand Shakespeare
  • Shakespeare in Performance
  • Rude Shakespeare
  • Authorship Attribution Studies
  • Shakespeare’s Sonnets
  • Music in Shakespeare’s Theatre
  • A Who’s Who of Shakespeare’s Acting Company
  • Working with Shakespeare’s Words
  • Shakespeare in the Archives
  • Plus talks and workshops on any Shakespeare play

Courses often include visits to theatre performances (subject to availability) supported by discussions with expert Shakespearians and theatre professionals.

There are also opportunities to engage with our world-renowned archive and collection.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust provides a unique opportunity for students, and we have many times already overheard our students remark at how this experience is a dream come true.
