The first public performance at The Other Place in June 1974 was 'Lear' (a cut down version of King Lear), followed by 'I was Shakespeare's Double', a documentary play by John Downie. The first play staged at the new Other Place was 'The Blue Angel', by Pam Gems. Its first public performance was on 8 August 1991
