The First Shakespeare Memorial Theatre was Listed, Grade II in 1971, the listing was upgraded to Grade II* to cover the whole site including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, in 1993. The Swan Theatre received: RIBA Regional Architecture Award in 1988, and a National RIBA Award in 1989; it received a Civic Trust Award in 1987; the Stratford-upon-Avon Conservation Award in 1987; Civic Public Buildings and Design prize in 1987; Europa Nostra Award for 1991. |
