The architect for extensive alterations and extensions at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in 1951 was Brian O'Rorke (d. 1972); The theatre's architect from 1956 - 1986, for maintenance and alterations including design of the outer foyer, was Robert Harvey of Yorke, Harper & Harvey, Birmingham. After his retirement in 1986 the RSC employed architect Michael Reardon (b. 1935) of Michael Reardon and Associates, Hillborough Barn, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire to oversee their buildings and advise on maintenance and alterations.
