The small multi-purpose 'performance studio' space in Stratford-upon-Avon named The Other Place opened for public performances in June 1974, having staged a small number of performances under the name of 'The Studio Theatre' in the summer and autumn of 1973.  In 2005 The Other Place closed as a theatre and work started on transforming it into what is currently the foyer of the temporary 'Courtyard Theatre', which opened in 2006 and will be in place during the refurbishment of the RST.
