How many languages has Shakespeare been translated into? PDF Print E-mail

Each of Shakespeare's plays has a particular appeal in different parts of the world, and many have been translated into numerous languages. Some translations are available only in limited, or privately published editions, while new translations of the Complete Works of 37 plays are currently being worked on in many countries. At the Shakespeare Centre in Stratford-upon-Avon, which is the headquarters of the International Shakespeare Association, the library collection in 1999 included the Complete Works in more than 30 languages and individual editions of the plays and poems in over 80 languages, from Arabic and Albanian to Yakut and Zulu.
