Accessibility

The Houses may present difficulties for disabled visitors, although in most cases the ground floor rooms and gardens are accessible. Our staff will be happy to assist in any way possible. There are special toilet facilities available at all five Shakespeare Houses.

Further information can be obtained from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's Guide to Accessibility click here

Registered disabled visitors will be charged the child admission rate and a helper will be admitted to the house free of charge.

Virtual Reality

A little girl tests the virtual reality tour at Shakespeare's BirthplaceComputer virtual reality tours at Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Shakespeare's Birthplace allow visitors who are unable to use the stairs, to view rooms that are otherwise inaccessible to them. Users have a choice of either a guided tour or 'exploring' the rooms on their own. 'Clickable' items allow objects on display to be rotated and looked at in detail with an accompanying text, and an audio version is available at Anne Hathaway's. The facility at the Cottage was funded by a 'Your Heritage' Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
