Talks and Visits PDF Print E-mail

Staff at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Local Collections offer a range of talks on local history and broader historical topics, suitable for any group or society. This includes a good selection of talks on Stratford itself but it is not normally possible to offer talks about other local towns and villages, other than to indicate the range of relevant source material the Local Collections hold on a particular place. It may also occasionally be possible to offer a talk for a specific or special occasion and this can be discussed with the Head Local Collections.

Talks can be booked either during the day, in which case expenses and a donation to the work of the Trust are requested, or in the evening, when a charge may apply, usually between £30 - £40, dependant upon the distance travelled.

Evening visits

Evening visits can be arranged to the Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive. As part of an evening visit we provide a general talk about our work, the types of documents we hold and how to locate and use them. In addition there would usually be a display of documents about the particular area or subject of interest of your group, and the archivist will talk about these too. Numbers for group visits are limited to a maximum of fifteen. The charge for these visits is normally £40 to cover the cost of security cover whilst the building is open.

We regret that we cannot normally accommodate group visits during the day.
