The Library and Archive will be closed as follows (all dates inclusive):

May Day Bank Holiday:  Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th May

Spring Bank Holiday:  Saturday 24th to Monday 26th May

HOURS OF OPENING

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00am - 5.00 pm

Wednesday: 10.00am - 7.00 pm

Saturday: 9.30am - 12.30 pm (except Saturdays before Bank Holidays)

Access for people with disabilities is not straightforward and, for wheelchair users, may mean using an alternative entrance. In particular, large electric scooters are difficult to accommodate and, if a smaller wheelchair can be used for your visit, this would be preferable. If you are able to telephone in advance of your visit (01789 201816), we can give you more precise information about access and parking.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

There is no special parking provision, but there is nearly always space in the nearby multi-storey car-park in Windsor Street.   Visitors travelling from the north or west of Stratford-upon-Avon might prefer to use the Park and Ride facility at the junction of the A46 and A3400 on the northern outskirts of the town.

On your first visit you will be asked to complete a registration card and you will need proof of identity (e.g. passport or driver's licence).

Please:

  • Sign the register in reception on each visit to the Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive
  • Leave bags and briefcases in the lockers provided
  • Switch off mobile telephones
  • Leave coats and umbrellas in Reception.
  • Use pencils only

Also please note:

  • Food and drink are not permitted in the Reading Room. Tea and coffee are available in the common room upstairs between the hours of 10.00 am - 12.00 pm and 2.30 - 4.30 pm
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.
  • CCTV cameras are in operation.
  • A public telephone for external calls is nearby.
