The Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive welcomes visits by schools, college and general interest groups by appointment and will arrange displays of library materials and provide talks about the Library's collections.

School Group Visits

Please contact our Education Department for details of lectures, workshops and whole-day packages.  Visits for an Archive Session alone cost £60. These are an opportunity for AS/A Level students to undertake independent research under the supervision of their teacher.  A session includes:

  • use of a conference room
  • introduction to the materials by a member of Library staff
  • hands-on study with RSC archive materials (production photographs, reviews, programmes and videos)
  • a wide selection of books on the performance history for consultation

Original Staging Resources

Resources on original staging of Shakespeare's plays, together information on your chosen play where this is available.  These resources are tailored to the Edexcel Drama and Theatre Studies specification and cover all aspects of original staging (props, audience, stagecraft etc.).   These cost £35 (including VAT and postage).  Please e-mail us for an order form.

College,University and Special Interest Groups

Displays of library materials with a talk from a member of staff can be arranged on request. Charges for these visits start at £120 (inc. VAT) per session.

We can also provide academic groups with materials for self-guided research/study sessions here at the Shakespeare Centre.
