The Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive
houses the Shakespeare and Local Collections.

Shakespeare Collections

The Shakespeare Collections offer comprehensive research materials on the subjects of Shakespeare's life, work and times and the performance of his plays. These consist of:

• the combined printed book collections of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and the Royal Shakespeare Company

• the archive of the Royal Shakespeare Company

Local Collections

The Local Collections consist of:

• historical documents of international importance concerning Shakespeare and his family

• many thousands of archival records, books, photographs and maps relating to Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area

Opening hours and Visitor Information

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust welcomes people who find access difficult. Improvement works going on at present involve the lift to our Library, Education Dept and Archives - and therefore have made access more difficult than usual.
